This evergreen garden shrub is naturalized widely across the North American continent, South America, and Europe. The hardiness zone of Japanese pieris is 5 to 8. The shrub can reach a height of about ten feet and a width of about several feet. The evergreen shrub will form a dense thicket, which also makes it a great privacy shrub. The plant’s translucent bell-shaped white flowers bloom in early spring and they smell sweet like honey. Please know that birds like to nest in this shrub and be careful about pruning.
