Rosalina (Rosa carolina) is a wildflower bush native to the North American continent. The hardiness zone of Rosa carolina is 3 to 9. The honeybees, bumblebees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and moths such as the Polyphemus moth (Antheraea polyphemus) will all pay homage to la bella Rosalina. This rose plant bush has long welcomed the Fay of the pastures to a teatime surprise, even among seemingly impossible landscapes. Oh! The sweet oasis Rosalina manifests is far from a mirage. Rather, it’s a sweet beacon of nectar that our sweet Rosalina sends out far into the distance. There for the Fay is a wildflower’s nourishing nectar, even amidst parched pastures of Summer. This native rosebush of the Americas prefers moist and well-draining soil. Yet, la Rosalina is a tough one. A mature rosebush of the pastures shares an extensive rhizome and thereby can survive in full sun, dappled shade, and even during droughts. Many birds such as blackbirds, goldfinches, robins, thrushes, and waxwings may visit such a magic rose garden for a taste of the rosehips. Rosalina can survive in a wealth of diverse habitats from sand dunes to woodlands to river stream beds to one’s very own organic cottage garden. The rosebush can grow ten feet tall and wide, but it won’t mind reasonable pruning. Rosalina typically blooms in Spring and produces luscious red rosehips in Fall. Did you know that all parts of a rose plant are edible? Just be careful not to hurt yourself on the thorns. Rose petal tea and wine are of Mama Maya’s greatest delicacies. And is there any greater delight than in opening up a jar of sweet, fresh rosehip jam in Winter? Rose flowers and fruits contain flavonoids; antioxidants; vitamins A, B, C, E, and K; calcium; magnesium; iron; and phosphorous. Rosehips have about ten times more the vitamin C than oranges. The offer is $50 for a 12 inch organic cutting of Rosa carolina. Free shipping. Portland Plant Paradise does not mail out to PO Boxes without explicit customer permission in writing.
