This is a small, deciduous tree that grows up to about 30 feet tall. The gorgeous flowers bloom in Spring, and the tree is pollinated by bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Some say that the common hawthorn also known as the May Tree provides a gateway to the fairy realms. The flowers of the common hawthorn carry fragrance that to some is spicy and lovely. To others, the smell of the common hawthorn flowers is dank and sour.
