The great laurel (Rhododendron maximum) is native to Greece, parts of Europe, and the North American continent. The laurel is a holy flower in ancient Greek culture, symbolizing victory, honor, and glory. The hardiness zone of the great laurel is 3 to 8. In Greek the word “rhododendron” translates to “rose tree” and the ethereal beauty of this plant from the heath family will be there front and center as the fay awake in Spring.
