California Coffeeberry (Frangula californica) is native to the central and the southwestern regions of the North American continent. The California coffeeberry hardiness zone is 7 to 10. The woodland shrub can be pruned anywhere from one to 15 feet in length and height, depending upon one’s landscaping design. The plant has been used medicinally by indigenous peoples for generations, and the berries can be eaten fresh, dried, and made into jam.
