“Tous les Jours Tours” in conjunction with Portland Plant Paradise offers an hour-and-a-half walking tour of downtown Portland, Oregon (total walking time is at least one hour). IMPORTANT NOTICE: YOU MUST PURCHASE A TOUR TICKET ONLINE AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE THE EVENT. Otherwise, you will NOT be guaranteed a spot on the tour. Nor will you be privy to any emailed instructions regarding tour details and guidelines. The tour is called “Ancestors are Alive in Portland” and begins at Pioneer Courthouse Square. There will be a lady holding up a black cat sign at Pioneer Courthouse Square that says: “Tous les Jours”. Under this sign we shall meet. Then, the tour begins with a history of Pioneer Courthouse Square, including the construction of this phenomenal public space. The tour explores nine unique spots of Portland that reveal insights into ancestors and spirit worlds. Thereby we look to find portals into the ancestral and spirit worlds. Notable places of interest where we stop and catch our communal breaths with the sacred ancestors include the Oregon Historical Society, the Portland Art Museum, and the Portland Farmer’s Market. This is as we travel further and further back in history at each space in time continuum through a kind of upward climbing slinky. Finally, the tour group arrives back at millions and millions of years ago when life first came through this one-of-a-kind portal to what we now call Portland. Pet friendly. No vehicles or parking reservations are needed. The tour inevitably winds up at a business in Portland where patrons are encouraged to enjoy local foods and arts of diverse ancestries. The next tour is on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. The tour guide is born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and is a graduate of the University of Oregon and Costa Rica Fulbright Program. She has a PhD in American Studies and History from Cornell University. She encourages people to pick her brains as part of this tour. “Tous les Jours Tours” happen rain or shine. The tour group utilizes all public walkways in a way that is safe and legal and is expected to obey all traffic signals. Here’s to a good trip! If for any reason during the hour-and-a-half-long tour any walker of the “camino real” should decide that you do not partake well of the journey. Well, bon voyage to you! The tour giver shall thereby have cash on hand to refund you the full and actual price of the tour ticket: $20. Questions? Please email Portland Plant Paradise (portlandplantparadise@gmail.com).
