This past October 2025 I discovered a bird nest that had been fallen from a Japanese Pieris at my cottage garden. I was surprised. There is the bird nest fallen to the ground. It had been so well hidden in the bush. The nest’s abandoned for the season by the birds. I had been lucky not to knock down a nest of baby birds! Any good gardener knows that it takes a forest of woodland creatures to make a homestead happen. I am far from the best sower of the cottage garden that I currently occupy down here upon Mama Maya. The squirrels, blue jays, chickadees, sparrows, finches, robins, hummingbirds, towhees, juncos, bumble and honey bees, ants, owls, spiders, doves, wolves, wildcats, horses, jackrabbits, turtles, frogs, ferrets, foxes, ducks, and countless priceless creatures we’re all here for a grateful time among this grand landscape of the Creator. Here to harvest what we can. In a land of milk and honey that’s a Garden of Eden. No matter how it happened. It happened upon a husbandry in a garden of Mary who the foreign aliens call contrary. They don’t understand the fay who live here. We keep the forest lands vibrant and a-plenty. Good n’ Plenty that’s our motto. All life upon a homestead garden must be respected if you hope to have a good harvest. Out of the many diverse lifeforms we work toward growth and balance. If you try to grow a monocrop and poison the little people with your toxic pesticides and noxious leaf blowers! We will forsake your tierra and you will dig your own dustbowl. It is a happy venture for you to hold out a peace branch to your local little people. The fairies in your very garden! For example, please be cognizant about the local birds! Living within the wild ecosystem around and amongst your neighborhood cottage garden! Be aware of the birds and the requisite nesting cycles. Before pruning anything, please look closely to make sure that there is not a nest of baby birds hidden within the branches. This will bring you at least seven years bad luck if you knock down a nest of babies recklessly. Beware!
