Our Mission Statement

At Portland Plant Paradise, we believe in the ancient wisdom of plants. Each day, during our field work, we behold before our very eyes the magnificence of God’s creation. As we know we’re in Eden, we work to honor the forces of nature rather than recreate the wheel as it turns in timeless synchronicity. Our garden shop sells seedlings, saplings, and seeds of the Old World: native, heirloom, and species plants. We work with time-honored pollinators. We garden organically. We use tools powered by our own hands. Please join us on our camino real around our age-old garden, as we work to create beauty.

At Portland Plant Paradise, we believe that once you’ve been around for billions, millions, or even thousands of years, you’ve got something to say for yourself. The levels of intelligences out there in any garden are nothing short of miraculous, at the same time that the life there does follow quite matter-of-fact scientific principles. It’s an honor to work as a gardener beholden to the Creator and in that way serve as a true guardian of the galaxy. There’s nothing that replaces the ancient wisdom what survives the ages. Ancient wisdom knows not to poison the earth around us as a way to control food production. Ancient wisdom knows to revel in nature rather than constantly try to tame her. Ancient wisdom enjoys and fosters the natural beauty around us.
