“Just another Manic Monday” so saith the band The Bangles of ancient Egypt. Did you know that the Nordic word “Monday” means the holy day of the moon. In Spanish the word for moon is Luna which is why in our language of the Sephardic Jews the day is called Lunes. As a woman with Gypsy, Jewish, Celtic, Indian, Australian aboriginal and Nordic ancestry, I have an amazing band of ancestors who teach me a great many wisdoms. And perhaps more than anything, I learn from the creatures of the animal kingdom who are not in current form of the two-legged. It is thereby from my direct observations in the garden that I’ve learned just how integral to our divine existences are bunnies. I am honored to have a resident Bunny in my very own garden. I learn tremendous teachings from her especially about pruning. She’s taught me to prune about the plant’s shadows. I’ve tended to prune about the plant to create what then appears to me as a more equal geometrical balance. But no! As I reflected upon the magical garden Bunny’s work, I realize she knows better about how to best prune the rosebushes. She prunes the bush’s leaves and stems where they are more in the shadows. Of course! Although I must seem a slow learner to Bunny, a flash of enlightenment hits me. I then reconsider what I’ve been doing. Even in my own life. Why do I prune away from the light? As it’s toward the light that the plant is growing. That we are all evolving. Bunny gets the garden to grow in just the right direction. Bunny’s fearless in her very knowledge that we’re here for the beauty. Even the thorns on the rosebushes don’t deter her. Hip hopping about the garden to build a nest for the children. Every day that I get to see the garden Bunny is like a huge blessing. I just planted some carrots this week in the garden Bunny’s honor. I was going to prune some off carrot tops. Thinking it’d get the rhizome to grow better. But then I stop myself. I think, Bunny can do it better. I know now in my heart how many eons that Bunny’s been here on Mama Maya. Spreading joy! Riding the rainbow waves of light. As we humbly serve our Creator. Constructing rabbit holes about the plains helping to build our Garden of Eden. Bunnies are architects of the highest dimensions. And as for the carrot tops? Sure enough, yesterday I look at the carrots I planted and the tops have been pruned to perfection. And I know by whom! By Bunny my brilliant ancestor. Who did her work as if it were play and then hopped back to her nest simply adorable. This blog is a simple attempt to pay homage to Bunny. Happy Easter! I’m so grateful for my Bunny ancestors.
