This bamboo planter was found in China by the shop owner during her travels there cerca 1985. The bamboo planter is classic vintage Chinese art, hand-painted and finished. See the three photographs provided (front, back, and center). The photographs are taken the day the product is listed, and they are a true and accurate representation of the planter. The measurements of the planter are 5 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches total width (center space for holding soil and the plant is 2 1/2 inches wide). The planter is in excellent condition, and as such can be used for its intended purpose. That said this relic of Chinese art is also lovely to look at. Very good item for a person interested in authentic Chinese handmade garden decor. Please note that there is no “made in China” sticker on this planter, nor is it constructed of anything but pure plant material. That in and of itself makes this planter unique, in an age when China was to become known for mass production of a plastic plethora. I myself know that the planter is authentic, because I saw it at a small shop in China before I brought it back home to the USA with me. It’s made in China and for use by the American consumer like few products from Asia are. Not mass produced, but rather handmade and calligraphed. Ready to be placed in the offices of a scholar’s study that must not exist outside the circular Venn diagram connecting it to the classical garden. I can imagine growing a “lucky bamboo” in this planter, not to mention other plants of paradise.
